Dumpling Time
About This Spot
Stepping into Dumpling Time feels like slipping into a quietly vibrant pocket of Berkeley’s bustling Fourth Street. The atmosphere hums with a sense of easy connection — a welcoming warmth that invites you to slow down and savor both the food and the company across the table. Whether you find a spot on the shaded patio or cozy up inside, there’s a gentle buzz in the air, like a shared understanding that this is a place to enjoy simple pleasures with care.
The rhythm here is unhurried but attentive, marked by servers who anticipate needs before they arise and a steady flow of colorful and thoughtfully plated dishes passed with genuine warmth. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot where comfort goes hand in hand with discovery — dumplings and gyoza arrive at the table with an artful balance of aroma and texture that feels familiar yet invitingly new with every bite.
Gathering here is as much about the atmosphere as it is the menu. The offerings reflect a respect for traditional flavors alongside playful interpretations of classics — from delicately steamed pockets to crisp, savory bites that pair beautifully with house-selected teas and carefully curated local beers. The presence of plant-based options, though limited, hints at a thoughtful attempt to include diverse palates.
By day, it’s an ideal pause in a spirited walk along Fourth Street — an airy nook where the soft clatter of dishes and the murmur of contented guests mix with the natural light filtering in. Come evening, the mood deepens into something more intimate and relaxed, making it a subtle backdrop for conversations that linger longer than the meal.

My husband and I went to Dumpling Time on Monday. From the moment we walked in the ambiance was inviting and the service was exceptional. But what truly made our evening unforgettable was our server, Jaime! His attention to detail, warmth, and genuine care really elevated the entire experience. He anticipated our needs before we could even voice them. He was refilling drinks, checking in at just the right moments, and offering spot-on recommendations that turned out to be absolutely delicious! I particularly love the green beans and seafood gyozas he recommended! It's rare to encounter someone who not only does their job so well but also clearly takes pride in creating a memorable experience for every guest. It’s the kind of service that turns a great meal into an unforgettable one. If you're dining here, do yourself a favor and ask for Jaime. You'll be in the best hands. Can’t wait to come back!

Great food!! We popped in for lunch. The server was so nice even when one dish took a bit longer than expected. The patio was great.

We discovered Dumpling Time recently, and we are absolutely in love with the restaurant! Their dumplings and gyoza are absolutely delicious. In addition, the visual presentation of each dish is gorgeous. Jaime serves us every time we visit, and he's very nice and he always provides exceptional service! Overall, we give Dumpling Time a five star rating and HIGHLY recommend!

Big fan of this place. The food is delicious and it's a great place to relax on a nice day. I LOVE the shrimp toast, but if I'm being honest everything I've had there was very tasty. It's right in the heart of fourth street so it's a nice stop in when you're walking around, and if it's busy you can put your name in and walk the strip. Dog friendly exterior seating as well.

A charming hole-in-the-wall gem that offers a delightful experience for anyone with a love for dumplings. As a vegan I wish they had more menu options but they do feature a selection of rice dishes and refreshing drinks. The perfect place for a quick bite, sharing with friends, or grabbing takeout to enjoy at home.
